Caregiver Breathing Room Wins Three Women Who Podcast Awards for Making Support More Accessible to Family Caregivers
Charlotte Bayala’s second award-winning podcast earns first place in Changing the World, third place in Service to Others and the Best Audio award
CAVE SPRINGS, AR., [August 5, 2026] — Caregiver Breathing Room, a podcast offering brief, accessible support to people caring for someone they love, has received three Women Who Podcast Awards:
First Place — Changing the World
Third Place — Service to Others
Best Audio
Created, hosted and produced by longtime cancer caregiver Charlotte Bayala, Caregiver Breathing Room features guided breathing, meditation, grounding and restorative practices designed for the realities of caregiving. Its intentionally brief episodes can be used before medical appointments, in hospital waiting rooms, during sleepless nights or whenever a caregiver needs help finding steadiness in the middle of a demanding day.
“Caregivers are often given advice that requires more time, energy or privacy than they actually have,” Bayala said. “I created Caregiver Breathing Room to give them support they can access in the middle of real life, even when they only have a few minutes.”
The awards recognize both the podcast’s service to caregivers and the quality of the listening experience it provides. The Best Audio honor is especially meaningful for a show created to help listeners feel calmer and more supported through voice, pacing, music and sound.
Bayala has cared for her husband through cancer for more than a decade. She combines that lived experience with her professional background as a yoga and meditation teacher. Her work acknowledges the emotional and physical strain of caregiving without relying on forced positivity or adding unrealistic expectations to an already overwhelming role.
“Caregivers do not always need another task added to their day,” Bayala said. “Sometimes they need someone to help them pause, breathe and remember that they are still present inside everything caregiving requires of them.”
Caregiver Breathing Room is part of Bayala’s broader work focused on the well-being of unpaid family caregivers.
Bayala also hosts the award-winning The Cancer Caregiver Podcast, which provides honest conversations and practical strategies for people caring for someone with cancer. Together, the two shows meet different but connected needs: one helps caregivers understand and navigate the emotional realities of caregiving, while the other gives them immediate tools to use during difficult moments.
The recognition comes as healthcare organizations and caregiver advocates continue working to address the health effects of unpaid caregiving. Family caregivers often manage appointments, medications, household responsibilities, employment and ongoing uncertainty while receiving limited support for their own emotional and physical well-being.
“Caregivers are an essential part of the care experience, but their needs are too often addressed as an afterthought,” Bayala said. “Support has to be realistic, accessible and created with an understanding of what their days actually look like.”
Healthcare organizations, cancer centers, nonprofits and individuals are encouraged to listen to Caregiver Breathing Room and share it with a family caregiver who could benefit from a few minutes of support.
Bayala is available for interviews about caregiver stress, accessible audio support, cancer caregiving and the development of her two award-winning podcasts.
